Today was pretty average for a weekend, my first one at that. But it was nice.
Awoke at the usual time of 11pm and found the light in the communal area still on. Yannis passed by from the kitchen upstairs, so why couldn't he of just turned it off then? Oh well. Have to admit it's really great to turn up to a clean kitchen. I'm antsy-pantsy on cleanliness of spaces - the cleaner the happier. I hoped to maybe bump into Su again, although that's incredibly disturbing of me. :-|
Had a variety of things to do today. But first was calling back to home which I missed 3 whole calls on that morning onwards; leaving it in the room is never a practical idea but then it was low on battery. Holly seemed well, and the meeting with the solicitor seemed to of went great as well, so I was relieved! I asked her for advice on using the washing machine such as detergents to use, spin speed, what to separate what from and so on. This was a lot of stuff for my pixel-brain, so I it required jotting down the details on a Laptop. My mobile phone isn't suited for shoulder-holds so I set it to speaker and typed in the advice from there. For some reason I got paranoid over people hearing advice from my relative over the most basic of domestic workings.
Headed over to the library to return the loaned DVD (The Girl Who Leapt through Time, as mentioned three times now) as well as photocopy some comic frame templates for my dairy strips. One of the nicer things I notice about the library is the option to return books and other things through containers outside - they open after the Library closes, so it's a great way to get stuff back if someone is too late.
Anyway, I head upstairs to the photocopiers and spend tackle their User Login touch screens briskly. (They're sensitivity and calibration is so loopy) Another girl uses a photocopier next to me - and I notice she looks Japanese. I bravely asked her if she is in Japanese language (Numerous times before I asked in Japanese to Koreans/Chinese because I was a retard and unable to tell the cultural differences apart) and she nodded. Hey, that's great! I meet one yesterday, and meet another the following! Better yet, she was studying Animation. In fact, she is a 3rd year student, and also knows the girl I met yesterday - Su.
She said her name was...Kaoru? Don't remember, I'll remember next time, though. She was busy photocopying various pictures in a book for inspiration to her final animation. I was surprised! Do 3rd year students really jump straight into a final project? For a whole year? That's crazy, but I like it. That's a lot of time to make a masterful piece of work. I asked her various things, some in English, some in Japanese. She asked me maybe if I was going to study abroad.
"I'd like to," I responded. "but that's pretty expensive. I just want to focus on the course for the time being." That sounds egotistical, but it's pretty much true.
Kaoru <sp> brought up that a 2nd year student is seriously wanting to study in Japan as an exchange program, and is determined. Nice! Hope he'll do that, and that it'll work out for him. I asked her if she has made many friends during her time in England. Apparently...no. Oh. As she headed off to find more books, I asked if I'll see her again - yeah. She goes to G01 a lot, maybe I'll see her there? I'd like to cook a Nikujaga for her and Su sometime and see how much they hate it! :D
That really lightened up my day, though. I stopped caring that it was overcast and raining - it was great to see another Japanese student just a day after another. I need to see Vicki at some point, though, and enquire about the contact-details passing she intended and see if she's even been teaching any Japanese students.
Ah - and passed by the Porter's Lodge to pick up my Anglepoise lamp. One of the guards there looked around for the package for a while before noticing the rather big one by his desk. He wasn't comfortable about handing the package over, though, because of one minor detail mistake on the address.
Mr T. Mearns.
Oh dear. Well, how could he possibly confirm this was meant for me? Not the Room 5? House 92?
I guess not, no, because he repeatedly asked me if I was the ONLY one in House 92 who's surname was Mearns. T. Mearns, you horrible asshole. When I jump into your paradox universe, you are going to get it!
The thing was heavy, and all the excess package made a bit of a mess. Still, it was a simple process in putting together the lamp and it's colour is a sleek and sexy Apple white. It just needs a bulb and it's good to go. Needed to hoover up the bedroom anyway. Coincidentally, Yannis was hoovering up his. After he finished, it was my turn to give it a...oh. Not YOU again.
Whilst going down to get it I spied the communal areas being a little messy and in need of a good sucking by Henry. And so, I went ahead - better now than tomorrow. I still wouldn't put it past the ISS Cleaner to be anal and log us for not cleaning up specks of cigarette ash in a corner.
Headed to Waitrose for some detergent, and picked up some shower gel. I would of started the washing today but...back home Georgia then casually brought it up that it costs £3 for washing. (and £2 for tumble drying) Crap, screw that. Because of my mighty debit, I seldom carry change around these days.
I'll do it tomorrow.
Hung out a little bit with Rob, Yannis and Georgia just outside. Rob and Yannis were planning to head off to the skate park despite the crappy weather, for some BMX action. (and most likely to huff up the faerie smoke) One of their friends passed by, asking if they were also headed to the park. Man, this guy. His hair - his afro. He's white, but look at the fucking size and quality of it. It was AMAZING. I swear this kind of sight was gone with the 70s.
Well, anyway, yeah. Most of today was kind of boring otherwise. I practiced some Japanese from my 10-minutes-a-day book, and had a siesta at 5pm. Waking up at 7pm, stuck on a ready meal of fish cakes and...alsc-something potatoes. Was nice. Jamie popped up to cook his dinner, too. He was at PJs all day, and made a short joke film with him.
Rob came back with even more DVDs loaned from the library. Pulp Fiction, a film I am yet to watch, was but one of these humble choices. The original Japanese Ring was there, too. I want to give that a look.
Showered up, and here I am writing this blog since 10pm. Phew, it does seem to help starting earlier.
